Ganga Aarti - The Spectacular Ceremony

National Seminar on

“The River Ganga: Ecology, Culture, Governance and Security"

A national seminar was held on September 17, 2024, at Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU), organized by the Departments of Defense Studies, Geopolitical Studies, and Political Science. The seminar addressed cultural, ecological, governance, and security issues related to the River Ganga.

Dr. Girish Kumar R, Head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Kerala, delivered a keynote emphasizing the urgent need for collective action to protect the Ganga. He highlighted the interconnection between ecology, culture, governance, and security, advocating for interdisciplinary approaches and greater academic involvement in research, community engagement, and policy recommendations.

Dr. Kumar praised HNBGU’s conservation efforts while discussing ongoing government initiatives, noting that not all have achieved optimal outcomes. He called for the establishment of a Ganga Knowledge Centre at the university to support multidisciplinary studies and resource mobilization.

Addressing security concerns, including threats from China and challenges faced by riverbank communities, Dr. Kumar stressed the importance of strengthened institutional frameworks, community participation, and transparent decision-making. He also highlighted the GRAMSAMBARK program by Amrithagiri Himalaya as a pioneering community awareness initiative.

The seminar featured distinguished speakers, including Prof. H.C. Nainwal, Prof. Prasanth Kandari, Prof. J.P. Bhatt, and Prof. Ashutosh Gupta, with Er. Binesh Bhatia serving as convenor. The event concluded with a Q&A session, Presidential Remarks by Prof. Himanshu Bourai, and a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Naresh Kumar.

Village Sampark Programme 2024 (VSP-1)

A unique Gramasambark program was organized by Amrithagiri Himalaya in collaboration with Neelkanth Mahadev Temple at Neelkanth Mahadev Shishu Vidya Mandir School. Attended by students, parents, teachers, and villagers, the event aimed to understand the challenges faced by the community.

Presided over by Prof. Girish Kumar, HOD of Political Science at the University of Kerala, the program included participation from dignitaries like Sri Sandeep Kumar (Grama Pradhan), Avinash Nautiyal (School President), and Sri Denny Amrithagiri (Chairman, Amrithagiri Himalaya). Villagers voiced their struggles, and Sri Mahipal Singh Thakur, President of Amrithagiri Ashram Himalaya, presented a ₹1 lakh cheque to support the school’s development, continuing Amrithagiri’s three-year financial support.

The program’s success highlighted the need for sustainable solutions to the villagers’ issues. Amrithagiri plans to use insights from the event to collaborate with governmental and non-governmental organizations, aligning with initiatives like the Clean Ganga Plan and NAMAMI, to improve education, health, and overall living conditions in the village.

Dev Deepavali and Ganga Mahotsav

As part of its association with the University of Kerala, Amrithagiri Himalaya is proud to announce its participation in one of the most religious and spectacular events connected with River Ganga viz. The Ganga Mahotsav and the Dev Deepavali Festivals. Dev Deepavali is a significant festival in Varanasi celebrated on the occasion of Kartik Poornima which is fifteen days after Deepavali. Kochi International Book Festival

Integral Books, a sister concern of Amrithagiri Himalaya, participated in the Kochi International Book Festival held from November 29, 2024, to December 8, 2025, at Ernakulathappan Grounds, Kochi. The event showcased their diverse range of publications on spirituality, personal growth, and cultural heritage, drawing literary enthusiasts and reinforcing their commitment to meaningful literature.
