Good Health & Nutrition

Child Health

Child health stands at the heart of community well-being at AH. In the remote Himalayan villages, children—especially girls—often face nutritional deficiencies, poor healthcare access, and environmental challenges. AH works to overcome these barriers through awareness camps, nutrition drives, and preventive healthcare programmes in collaboration with local health workers and partner institutions. By promoting hygiene, balanced diets and early health screening, we ensure every child receives the foundation for a healthy and confident life. Our initiatives also emphasize maternal health, recognizing that the well-being of mothers and children are inseparable. Guided by compassion and science, AH envisions a future where no child is left behind in the journey toward holistic wellness.

Quality Education and General Awareness

At Amrithagiri Himalaya (AH), our work flows with deep respect for the people and spirit of the Himalayan region. We strive to strengthen local self-governance and empower villagers by protecting their livelihoods, particularly in agriculture and traditional crafts. Through sustainable farming practices, equitable access to natural resources, and awareness programmes, AH supports communities in living with dignity and self-reliance.

Under the thoughtful guidance of Dr. Sameer Das – Calcutta University, and in collaboration with dedicated institutions, scholars and local leaders, we seek to understand and document the challenges of rural Himalayan life — from access to education and healthcare through our rural outreach programs conducted periodically (VSPs or Village Sampark Program – Gram Sampark Abhiyan)

Education is the most powerful form of health intervention. Through its VSPs and academic collaborations, AH conducts health awareness sessions, hygiene education, and environment learning activities for children and youth. The organisation integrates traditional wisdom with modern science to cultivate lifelong habits of wellness and cleanliness. Special focus is given to girls’ education, health literacy, and skill development, ensuring equal opportunities for all. Step by step, AH gradually transforms schools and village learning spaces into social development hubs.

Collaborative Support

A meaningful change is possible only through collective effort. Hence, AH collaborate with universities, healthcare institutions, social organisations and government agencies to enhance the reach and quality of its health and nutrition programmes. We facilitate research, medical outreach, and policy advocacy aligned with the National Health Mission, Ayushman Bharat, and guidelines of the UN (SDGs 2, 3, and 4).

These partnerships extend beyond resources — to aid the most remote Himalayan communities to become self-sufficient.
